Freedom
Under Siege
Ron Paul's political manifesto, written in 1987, on the 200th anniversary
of the Constitution. Dr. Paul puts forth his thoughts on what it
means to be a constitutionalist in the tradition of Thomas Jefferson.
He discusses an entire range of issues: freedom, sound money, the
military draft, gun ownership, morality and politics, political statesmanship,
patriotism, Washington excesses, and the eternal conflict between
the individual and the state. 174 pages.
A
Foreign Policy of Freedom
This book is a compilation of Dr. Paul's foreign policy speeches
given to the House of Representatives throughout his career. He warns
Congress of the flaws of military interventionism and the consequences
America will face if we continue our role as the world's policeman.
Far too often Dr. Paul has been a lone, courageous voice in Congress
in his attempt to explain to his colleagues about the dangers of
empire. Immense wisdom permeates this book. 372 pages.
The
Case for Gold
Co-authored with Lewis Lehrman, this is an excellent analysis of
why gold is needed to back the nation's currency. Delves into the
history of money in the U.S. throughout the 19th and 20th centuries
in very readable prose. Explains what the monetary crisis is that
we presently suffer from and how the political advocates of statism
in conjunction with private corporate and banking factions have caused
it. 245 pages.
Mises
and Austrian Economics
Nice introduction to the basics of Austrian economics that is relatively
free of obscure economic jargon. This short essay pays tribute to
the great Ludwig von Mises and tells how important he was to the
formation of Ron Paul's economic beliefs. We cannot understand the
economic mess we are in today until we understand Mises and the Austrian
school of economics. This primer is a good starting place. 31 pages.
